Montessori NIDO is a program that focuses on the development of infants and young toddlers from around birth to 15 months. NIDO, which means "nest" in Italian, emphasizes the provision of a secure, nurturing, and enriching environment for these young children. Similar to Montessori IC, NIDO classrooms are prepared with developmentally appropriate materials and activities that promote sensorial exploration, language development, movement, and self-care. Montessori NIDO teachers provide gentle guidance and foster independence in young children, encouraging them to develop self-confidence and early social skills.
